What is “Papillon Verite”?

“Papillon Verite” roughly translates to “Truthful Butterfly”. Lafayette is that brutally truthful butterfly dog (Papillon) who most definitely voice his opinions. Whether it be barking and lunging, ears pinning back, refusing to walk in a certain direction, it is my job as his caretaker to not punish those behaviors, but to take that information, interpret it, and figure out the best way to meet his needs, or at the very least come to a compromise (half way happy papi!).

We humans are so busy training our dogs, constantly repeating cues, and trying to get them to do everything we want. Essentially, we are doing all the talking and none of the listening. We overlook their needs when they are uncomfortable, afraid, or frustrated.

With 7+ years as a professional trainer at a local award winning Ballard dog training center, I am not just giving your dog a simple walk. I am also lending them an open ear to hear them out and meet their needs. I am there to give them the most happy, positive, and enrichening experience as possible.
